Rocks, Strategies for Multiplying Double-Digit Numbers, Share Something Great, and Passion Project Time!

We worked on using elaborating prompts with our partners to push our thinking with our writing. It was incredible to see how we can use these sentence starters to convey more information and details in our writing!

Here are a few examples of some elaborating prompts that we are trying to incorporate into our writing!

We observed conglomerate rocks in science. We made observations and described using our senses to make predictions about how sedimentary rocks are made.

We practiced some mindfulness with our new mindfulness leader!

Share Something Great Friday is again a HUGE success!

Sharing a baseball tournament victory!

Singing and creating music to a new song they wrote...

Sharing a dance that will be performed at a nearby university...

Sharing upcoming events with dance...

Sharing weekend celebrations...

We filled up our Put Up Jar last week.
We decided that we would color in a letter in the
word "Kindness" each time we fill the jar.

We only have 6 more poof balls before we fill it up again.
Kindness is everywhere in Room 44!

Passion Project Time:
The first 10 minutes of the school day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays we are working on our passion projects. Some kids are working as peer tutors with first graders, others are working on the class newsletter, class vocabulary words, and organizing the library.

The kids created Fill Up Friday posters to put around Kipling.
The posters have words of cheer and encouragement on Post Its for other students to take as needed.
We were surprised to see how many Post Its were taken around Kipling!

They want to see if we can spread words of cheer around Deerfield.
Do any family members know of any businesses in the area that would like a Fill Up Poster?

I wonder what the kids will think of next!
