Wow! It was an incredible week as we returned back to full day full house learning here at Kipling.
It was wonderful to see all of the kids ready to embrace the day!
We began our day with the live video announcements.
It is great to see other fourth graders leading the way as they give the
announcements for the Kipling Community.
We are learning about how kids are having a positive impact in
their communities, laughing at silly jokes from Mr. Elbert, and
celebrating birthdays at Kipling.
We like to stop at different points during the day for mindfulness.
Students enjoy coming up and leading the class in different mindfulness activities.
We are building our stamina for reading each day.
We know that it is important as readers to do more than just read the words.
Sometimes we stop to push our thinking, jot ideas or questions, locate new unknown or exciting words,
and reread for the tricky and confusing parts.
One thing our class truly enjoys doing is talking about the books we read!
Our amazing 4th graders:
We have been working so hard on our literary essays.
For our first literary essay, we chose a short story from our text packet to write about.
The kids chose a character from the story and named a character trait for that specific character.
We worked on finding three reasons to support our thesis.
For each reason, we included evidence from the text, dialogue, lists, and examples.
It is amazing to see how we have grown as writers with this literary essay!
We took time to share our work with classmates on a beautiful day.
We made it through our first day back at Kipling!
Besides my 3.4 mile run/walk in the morning on Monday, I realized that I am getting some serious steps in at school!
On Friday, we wrapped up our Book Club with a discussion over our weekly quiz.
The kids are working to provide evidence with a page number and quoting specific examples that support our given answer. It is great to see everyone engaging in deep conversations on where the evidence was found and politely disagree if one found the different piece of evidence elsewhere.
It was a great week in Room 44. I am looking forward to seeing what we accomplish this week!
